Terms of Service

This page is maintained by SortFi to describe the terms that apply to your use of SortFi. It is not an independent legal opinion or certification.
1. Agreement to these Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Humaine Technologies Inc. ("we," "us," or "our"), the company that operates SortFi. By accessing or using the SortFi website and application (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.
3. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and not to misuse, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to it.
4. What SortFi does — and doesn't do
SortFi helps you import bank and card statements, organize and categorize transactions with AI assistance, attach receipts, and generate expense reports and exports. SortFi is a bookkeeping and organization tool. It is not an accountant, tax preparer, or financial advisor, and it does not provide tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice. AI-generated category suggestions may be inaccurate or incomplete, and you are responsible for reviewing and confirming all data before relying on it or filing taxes. SortFi does not file your taxes and does not connect to your bank.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of the statements, receipts, and other data you upload ("Your Content"). You grant humAIne technologies Inc. a limited license to store, process, and display Your Content solely to provide and improve the Service. You represent that you have the right to upload Your Content and that doing so doesn't violate any law or third-party rights.
6. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal information.
7. Beta and billing
SortFi is currently free during beta. If and when paid plans launch, applicable fees, billing terms, and cancellation rights will be presented to you and will require your agreement before any charge.
8. Third-party services
The Service may rely on third-party providers (such as hosting and AI processing). We're not responsible for third-party services, and your use of them may be subject to their own terms.
9. Intellectual property
SortFi and its software, design, and branding are owned by Humaine Technologies Inc. and protected by law. These Terms don't grant you any rights to our trademarks or intellectual property except the limited right to use the Service.
10. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided by humAIne technologies Inc. "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI suggestions or exports will be accurate.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, humAIne technologies Inc. will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on the Service or on AI-generated suggestions. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or CAD $100.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify humAIne technologies Inc. against claims arising from your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as disclaimers, liability limits, and indemnification) will survive.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms and will post the revised version here with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated to account holders. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept them.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
